CVE-2014-125116 is a remote code execution vulnerability affecting HybridAuth versions 2.0.9 through 2.2.2. The issue is caused by insecure handling of the install.php installation script after deployment. If install.php remains accessible, it accepts unsanitized attacker-controlled input and writes that input directly into the application's config.php file. Because config.php is a PHP file that is later loaded by the application, an unauthenticated attacker can inject arbitrary PHP code that will execute on the server when the configuration file is processed. Exploitation also overwrites the existing configuration, which can break application functionality.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (hybridauth_install_php_exec.rb) that exploits a remote code execution vulnerability in HybridAuth versions 2.0.9 to 2.2.2. The exploit targets installations where the 'install.php' file has not been removed post-installation, allowing an attacker to write arbitrary PHP code to the 'config.php' file. The module first checks for the presence and writability of the relevant files, writes a PHP backdoor to 'config.php' via a POST request to 'install.php', then sends a base64-encoded PHP payload to the backdoored 'config.php' to achieve code execution. After execution, it attempts to remove the backdoor. The exploit is unauthenticated and works over HTTP, with the main endpoints being '/hybridauth/install.php' and '/hybridauth/config.php'. The exploit is operational and provides remote code execution capabilities, but will render the application unusable by overwriting its configuration.
