CVE-2014-125118 is a command injection vulnerability in eScan Web Management Console version 5.5-2. The flaw is present in login.php during processing of login requests, where the application does not properly sanitize the pass parameter. An authenticated attacker with a valid username can supply a specially crafted password value that injects arbitrary operating system commands. Successful exploitation leads to remote code execution in the context of the vulnerable application. The available information further indicates that privilege escalation to root may be possible by abusing the runasroot utility when mwconf-level privileges are available.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (Ruby file) that exploits a command injection vulnerability (CVE-2014-125118) in the eScan Web Management Console for Linux (tested on version 5.5-2, Ubuntu 12.04). The exploit targets the login functionality by injecting commands via the password field in a POST request to /login.php. The attacker must have a valid username. The module delivers a custom ELF payload (reverse shell or Meterpreter) to the target, typically by hosting it via HTTP and instructing the target to download and execute it in a writable directory (default: /tmp). After initial code execution as the 'mwconf' user, the module escalates privileges to root using the 'runasroot' utility. The exploit is operational and provides full remote code execution as root. The module is part of the Metasploit framework and is structured according to Metasploit conventions, with clear separation of check, exploit, payload delivery, and privilege escalation logic.
