CVE-2014-3529 is an XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability in the OPC SAX processing used by Apache POI before version 3.10.1. The vulnerable parser resolves external entities declared within attacker-controlled OpenXML/OOXML documents. An attacker who can cause an application to parse a crafted OOXML document can use an external entity declaration and reference to access local resources available to the application-server process.

Apache POI XML external entity vulnerability.
An XML external entity resolution flaw in Apache POI's handling of OOXML documents. An attacker able to provide a parsed OOXML file could read files accessible to the application-server user and potentially conduct further XXE attacks.
An XML external entity resolution flaw in Apache POI when parsing OOXML documents, enabling a remote attacker who can supply a document to read files accessible to the application-server user and potentially conduct further XXE attacks.
