CVE-2014-8356 is an insecure direct object reference and authorization bypass vulnerability in the web administrative portal of Zhone zNID 2426A devices before version S3.0.501. The administrative web application fails to enforce authorization on the server side and instead relies on client-side JavaScript-driven interface restrictions to limit access to administrative functionality. As a result, a remote authenticated user with low privileges can manipulate the server response associated with the web interface and directly access functionality intended only for higher-privileged users. The flaw effectively allows bypass of intended access controls because authorization decisions are not consistently enforced by the backend.
