CVE-2014-8684 is a vulnerability in CodeIgniter versions prior to 3.0.0 and Kohana 3.2.3 and earlier as well as 3.3.x through 3.3.2, where session cookie validation compares cryptographic hashes using standard (non-constant-time) string comparison operators. This makes it easier for a remote attacker to spoof session cookies by exploiting hash comparison behavior, and as a consequence can enable PHP object injection attacks when attacker-controlled serialized data is accepted and processed.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (Ruby) that exploits unauthenticated remote command execution vulnerabilities (CVE-2014-8684, CVE-2014-8686, CVE-2014-8687) in Seagate Business NAS devices, specifically tested on the STBN300 model. The exploit leverages a local file inclusion vulnerability in the handling of the 'language' parameter within a CodeIgniter session cookie. By decrypting, modifying, and re-encrypting the session cookie using a known static XOR key, the attacker can escalate privileges and execute arbitrary PHP code on the device without authentication. The module is fully weaponized, supporting arbitrary payloads via the Metasploit framework, and targets the NAS web interface over HTTP. The main fingerprintable endpoints are the root web path (/) and the 'ci_session' cookie. The code is structured as a typical Metasploit exploit module, with methods for checking vulnerability, exploiting the target, and handling the custom session cookie encoding/decoding required for the attack.
