CVE-2015-0002 is a privilege escalation vulnerability in the AhcVerifyAdminContext function within ahcache.sys, part of the Application Compatibility component in Microsoft Windows (Windows 7 SP1, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 Gold and R2, and Windows RT Gold and 8.1). The function fails to verify that an impersonation token is associated with an administrative account, allowing local users to gain elevated privileges by executing AppCompatCache.exe with a crafted DLL file.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (modules/exploits/windows/local/ntapphelpcachecontrol.rb) that exploits CVE-2015-0002 (MS15-001), a local privilege escalation vulnerability in Microsoft Windows 8 and 8.1. The exploit abuses improper impersonation token checks in the NtApphelpCacheControl system call, allowing a normal user to escalate privileges to SYSTEM. The module requires a Meterpreter session on a vulnerable system (x86/win32 session) and uploads a generated DLL payload to the target's TEMP directory. It then injects a Metasploit-provided exploit DLL to trigger the vulnerability and execute the payload as SYSTEM. The main fingerprintable endpoints are the required system file (C:\Windows\System\ComputerDefaults.exe), the temporary DLL payload path, and the Metasploit exploit DLL. The module is operational and provides privilege escalation capabilities on affected Windows versions.
