CVE-2015-0016 is a directory traversal vulnerability in the TS WebProxy (TSWbPrxy) component of multiple Microsoft Windows versions, including Vista SP2, 7 SP1, 8, 8.1, Server 2008 R2 SP1, Server 2012 Gold and R2, and Windows RT Gold and 8.1. The flaw allows remote attackers to gain elevated privileges by supplying a crafted pathname in an executable file, enabling a transition from Low Integrity to Medium Integrity. This can be exploited to bypass intended access controls and execute code with higher privileges than intended.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (ms15_004_tswbproxy.rb) that exploits CVE-2015-0016, a sandbox escape vulnerability in Internet Explorer's Protected Mode via the TSWbPrxy.exe process on Windows 7 SP1 (32-bit). The exploit checks for the presence of the vulnerable process and ensures the session is running at Low Integrity (Protected Mode). It then generates a PowerShell payload, stores it in an environment variable, and injects a DLL into the target process to trigger the vulnerability, resulting in code execution with Medium Integrity. The module is operational and provides a Meterpreter session upon successful exploitation. The main fingerprintable endpoints are the TSWbPrxy.exe file, the injected DLL, and the use of the PSHCMD environment variable. The code is written in Ruby and is structured as a standard Metasploit local exploit module.
