CVE-2015-0231 is a use-after-free vulnerability in PHP's unserialization implementation, specifically the processing of nested serialized data in the standard extension. A crafted serialized object containing duplicate numeric property keys can cause improper object cleanup while a subsequent serialized reference retains access to the freed object. The resulting dangling reference can corrupt PHP memory management structures. The issue is an incomplete fix for CVE-2014-8142 and affects PHP releases before 5.4.37, 5.5.21, and 5.6.5.
