CVE-2015-2331 is an integer-overflow vulnerability in libzip's _zip_cdir_new function. In libzip 0.11.2 and earlier, a ZIP archive containing a large number of entries can cause arithmetic used to size central-directory-related heap allocations to wrap. The resulting undersized allocation is subsequently overrun, producing a heap-based buffer overflow. PHP's ZIP extension is affected in PHP versions before 5.4.39, 5.5.23, and 5.6.7, as are other products incorporating vulnerable libzip code.
