CVE-2015-5174 is an improper path-validation vulnerability in Apache Tomcat RequestUtil.java affecting Tomcat 6 before 6.0.45, Tomcat 7 before 7.0.65, and Tomcat 8 before 8.0.27. ServletContext resource lookup processing through getResource(), getResourceAsStream(), and getResourcePaths() failed to reject a pathname consisting of a slash followed by two dots. This permits traversal to the parent of a web application's deployment directory and bypasses intended Java SecurityManager restrictions. Apache Tomcat 9 is not affected.
