Apache Tomcat's Mapper component processed trailing-slash redirects before evaluating applicable security constraints and filters. An unauthenticated requester could request a protected directory or web application context root without a trailing slash and infer whether it existed from whether Tomcat returned a redirect. The issue affects Tomcat 6.x before 6.0.45, 7.x before 7.0.68, 8.x before 8.0.30, and 9.x before 9.0.0.M2. The corrective design moves redirect handling to DefaultServlet so security constraints and security-enforcing filters are evaluated before redirects are issued.
