CVE-2015-7808 is a critical pre-authentication remote code execution vulnerability in vBulletin 5 Connect versions 5.1.2 through 5.1.9. The vulnerability resides in the vB_Api_Hook::decodeArguments method, which uses PHP's unserialize() function on user-supplied input (the 'arguments' parameter) in the ajax/api/hook/decodeArguments endpoint. This allows remote attackers to perform PHP object injection by sending crafted serialized objects, leading to arbitrary PHP code execution. The exploit leverages the vB_dB_Result and vB_Database classes to trigger code execution. The vulnerability was actively exploited in the wild, including the compromise of the vBulletin main forum.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (modules/exploits/multi/http/vbulletin_unserialize.rb) that exploits a PHP object injection vulnerability (CVE-2015-7808) in vBulletin versions 5.1.2 to 5.1.9 (and 5.0.x for a specific target). The exploit works by sending a specially crafted serialized PHP object in the 'arguments' GET parameter to the /ajax/api/hook/decodeArguments endpoint of the target vBulletin installation. If the target is vulnerable, this results in arbitrary PHP code execution, allowing the attacker to run commands or deploy further payloads. The module includes automatic version detection and supports both automatic and manual targeting. The code is written in Ruby and is designed to be used within the Metasploit framework, making it a weaponized exploit. The only fingerprintable endpoint is the vulnerable HTTP path used in the attack.
