CVE-2015-7855 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in the decodenetnum function of ntpd. It affects NTP 4.2.x before 4.2.8p4 and 4.3.x before 4.3.77. A remote attacker can trigger an assertion failure by sending a crafted mode 6 or mode 7 NTP control packet containing an overly long data value. When the vulnerable code processes the malformed input, ntpd aborts, causing the service to terminate.
