CVE-2015-8249 is a critical unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability in ManageEngine Desktop Central 9 (prior to build 91093). The vulnerability resides in the FileUploadServlet class, which fails to properly validate the 'connectionId' parameter. Attackers can exploit this by using path traversal and null byte injection in the 'connectionId' parameter to bypass file extension checks and upload arbitrary files (such as JSP web shells) to web-accessible directories, leading to arbitrary code execution as SYSTEM. The vulnerability was confirmed in builds 90109 and 91084 and was discovered by Wei Chen of Rapid7.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module targeting a remote code execution vulnerability (CVE-2015-8249) in ManageEngine Desktop Central 9 for Windows. The exploit abuses the FileUploadServlet's improper handling of the ConnectionId parameter, allowing a remote attacker to upload a malicious JSP file to a web-accessible directory via a crafted HTTP POST request. The module generates a custom Windows executable payload, encodes it into a JSP stager, uploads it using a path traversal/null byte injection technique, and then triggers its execution by sending a GET request to the uploaded JSP. The exploit is operational and provides SYSTEM-level code execution on the target. The module is well-structured, with clear separation of payload generation, upload, and execution logic. Key endpoints include the vulnerable '/fileupload' servlet and the '/jspf/<random>.jsp' path used to execute the payload. The exploit leaves behind a debug log file (rdslog0.txt) on the target. The code is written in Ruby and is designed to be used within the Metasploit framework.
