CVE-2015-8383 is a heap-based buffer overflow in PCRE before version 8.38. PCRE mishandles certain repeated conditional groups while compiling or processing a crafted regular expression, allowing writes beyond an allocated buffer. Applications that pass attacker-controlled regular expressions to PCRE, including SQL regular-expression processing or browser JavaScript RegExp handling, may expose the flaw remotely.
