CVE-2016-0714 is an improper access-control flaw in Apache Tomcat session-persistence handling. Affected mechanisms include StandardManager, PersistentManager, and clustering, which persist or replicate session data using permissions assigned to Tomcat internal code. A malicious web application can place a crafted object in a session such that its processing by these mechanisms bypasses intended Java SecurityManager restrictions and triggers arbitrary code in Tomcat's privileged context. Affected upstream versions are Tomcat 6 through 6.0.44, Tomcat 7 through 7.0.67, Tomcat 8 through 8.0.30, and Tomcat 9.0.0.M1; older unsupported releases may also be affected.
