CVE-2016-15042 affects the WordPress plugins Frontend File Manager before 4.0 and N-Media Post Front-end Form before 1.1. The vulnerability is caused by missing file type validation in the AJAX upload handlers nm_filemanager_upload_file and nm_postfront_upload_file. Because uploaded content is not properly restricted by type, an unauthenticated attacker can submit arbitrary files to the server through these exposed upload actions. If the uploaded file is placed in a web-accessible location and interpreted by the server, this can lead to remote code execution.

nm_filemanager_upload_file and nm_postfront_upload_file enforce strict server-side validation of allowed file types, extensions, and content. Uploaded files should be stored outside executable web paths where possible, and server-side controls should prevent execution of uploaded script files. No valid public exploits.
