CVE-2016-15044 is a remote code execution vulnerability affecting Kaltura versions prior to 11.1.0-2. The issue is caused by unsafe deserialization of user-controlled data in the keditorservices module. Specifically, the redirectWidgetCmd endpoint accepts attacker-supplied serialized PHP object data via the kdata GET parameter and deserializes it without adequate validation or restriction. An unauthenticated remote attacker can supply a crafted PHP serialized object to trigger gadget execution and achieve arbitrary PHP code execution within the application.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (modules/exploits/linux/http/kaltura_unserialize_rce.rb) that exploits an unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability (CVE-2016-15044) in Kaltura versions prior to 11.1.0-2. The exploit leverages an object injection flaw in the keditorservices module, where user-supplied data is unserialized and processed by the Zend_Log and Zend_Layout classes, leading to arbitrary PHP code execution. The module sends a specially crafted serialized PHP object to the /index.php/keditorservices/redirectWidgetCmd endpoint via a GET request with the 'kdata' parameter. If successful, the attacker gains code execution as the web server user. The module is operational and allows for custom PHP payloads, making it a powerful tool for post-exploitation. The code is written in Ruby and is designed to be used within the Metasploit framework.
