CVE-2016-2161 is a remotely triggerable denial-of-service vulnerability in Apache HTTP Server's mod_auth_digest module affecting versions 2.4.0 through 2.4.23. mod_auth_digest improperly handles memory-allocation failures during client-entry allocation when its shared-memory space is exhausted. Crafted input can cause an httpd child process to segfault; the affected instance may continue to crash while processing subsequent otherwise-valid requests.
