CVE-2016-6914 is a local privilege-escalation vulnerability in Ubiquiti UniFi Video for Windows before version 3.8.0. The application installation directory grants unprivileged users write and append permissions through inherited access controls. A UniFi Video service running as NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM invokes an executable from this user-writable directory during service start and stop. A local attacker can replace or supply that executable and cause attacker-controlled code to run in the SYSTEM security context.

This repository provides a proof-of-concept (PoC) exploit for CVE-2016-6914, a local privilege escalation vulnerability in Ubiquiti UniFi Video 3.7.3 on Windows. The exploit leverages the ability of a low-privileged attacker to replace the trusted binary 'taskkill.exe' in the 'C:\ProgramData\unifi-video\' directory. When the UniFi Video Service is restarted, the malicious binary is executed with SYSTEM privileges. The included 'exploit.c' file is a C program that, when compiled and executed as 'taskkill.exe', launches a PowerShell reverse shell to the attacker's machine (IP 10.10.16.5, port 4444), granting SYSTEM-level access. The README provides detailed exploitation steps, including payload delivery via SMB, listener setup, and AV evasion tips. The repository is structured with a single exploit source file and a README containing usage instructions and background information. No detection scripts or fake elements are present; this is a functional local privilege escalation PoC.
