CVE-2016-7055 is a carry-propagation defect in OpenSSL's Broadwell-specific Montgomery multiplication implementation. The flaw affects operations on input lengths greater than 256 bits that are divisible by 256 bits, and can yield incorrect cryptographic calculations. It affects OpenSSL 1.0.2 releases before 1.0.2k and OpenSSL 1.1.0 releases before 1.1.0c. The vulnerable routine can cause transient authentication or key-negotiation failures and reproducible incorrect public-key-operation results when supplied specially crafted input. Among elliptic-curve algorithms, Brainpool P-512 is affected.
