CVE-2016-8582 is a SQL injection vulnerability in the gauge.php component of AlienVault OSSIM and USM prior to version 5.3.2. The vulnerability allows an attacker to execute arbitrary SQL queries, including the use of MySQL's LOAD_FILE function, which can be leveraged to read local system files from the server hosting the application.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (alienvault_exec.rb) that exploits a chain of vulnerabilities (object injection, authentication bypass, IP spoofing, and SQL injection) in AlienVault OSSIM and USM (various versions up to 5.3.0/5.0.0). The exploit is fully weaponized and leverages HTTP(S) requests to specific endpoints (notably gauge.php, modifyactions.php, modifycorrelation.php, and reload.php) to hijack an admin session, create a rogue action and policy, and then triggers the payload via a failed SSH login attempt. The default payload is a Python Meterpreter reverse shell, granting root access. The module is well-structured, leverages Metasploit's HTTP and SSH libraries, and is designed for remote, unauthenticated exploitation of vulnerable AlienVault systems.
