CVE-2016-9684 is a remote command injection vulnerability in the 'viewcert' CGI component of SonicWall Secure Remote Access server version 8.1.0.2-14sv. The vulnerability arises because the 'CERT' variable, processed by the /cgi-bin/viewcert endpoint, is not properly sanitized before being passed to a system() call. This allows an attacker to inject arbitrary commands via the web administrative interface, resulting in execution of those commands as the 'nobody' user on the target system.
