CVE-2017-0038 is an information disclosure vulnerability in gdi32.dll, part of the Graphics Device Interface (GDI) in multiple versions of Microsoft Windows. The vulnerability is triggered when a specially crafted Enhanced Metafile (EMF) file containing an EMR_SETDIBITSTODEVICE record with manipulated Device Independent Bitmap (DIB) dimensions is processed. This can cause the GDI component to leak uninitialized heap memory contents to the attacker. The issue is a result of an incomplete fix for previous vulnerabilities (CVE-2016-3216, CVE-2016-3219, CVE-2016-3220).
