CVE-2017-10617 is an XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability in the ifmap service bundled with Juniper Networks Contrail. The vulnerability allows an attacker to submit crafted XML data to the ifmap service, which can process external entities and potentially retrieve sensitive system files. This affects Contrail versions 2.2 prior to 2.21.4, 3.0 prior to 3.0.3.4, 3.1 prior to 3.1.4.0, and 3.2 prior to 3.2.5.0. The vulnerability can be chained with CVE-2017-10616 for greater impact.

This repository provides a proof-of-concept (PoC) exploit for CVE-2017-10617 (XXE in IFMAP daemon, irond) and references CVE-2017-10616 (hardcoded credentials) affecting Juniper Contrail versions 2.2, 3.0, 3.1, and 3.2. The main exploit is implemented in 'poc-xxe.py', a Python 2 script that targets the IFMAP service (default endpoint: https://127.0.0.1:8443/axis2/services/IfmapService) using default credentials (test:test). The script crafts and sends malicious SOAP/XML requests exploiting the XXE vulnerability to read arbitrary files from the server, such as /etc/passwd or /etc/contrail/openstackrc (the latter containing simulated OpenStack admin credentials). The repository also includes a Dockerfile and configuration to build and run a vulnerable irond instance for testing. The exploit demonstrates the ability to exfiltrate sensitive files from the server via a network-based XXE attack.
