CVE-2017-12786 is a stack-based buffer overflow in the packet-data unserialization performed by the cliengine and noviengine services distributed with NoviWare through NW400.2.6 on NoviSwitch devices. A defect in applying ACL modifications can inadvertently expose the services' network interfaces, enabling remote unauthenticated attackers to exploit the overflow and execute code with root privileges on the switch.
