Kaltura versions prior to 13.2.0 contain a vulnerability in the getUserzoneCookie function, which uses a hardcoded secret for validating cookie signatures. This allows remote attackers to forge valid cookies, bypassing authentication mechanisms and enabling PHP object injection attacks. Successful exploitation can lead to arbitrary PHP code execution via a crafted userzone cookie.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (modules/exploits/linux/http/kaltura_unserialize_cookie_rce.rb) that exploits an unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability (CVE-2017-14143) in Kaltura installations prior to version 13.1.0. The exploit leverages a hardcoded cookie secret to sign arbitrary serialized PHP objects, which are then passed to the target's unserialize() function via the 'userzone' cookie. The module constructs a PHP object injection payload using a known Zend POP chain, enabling arbitrary PHP code execution as the web server user. The exploit requires a valid 'entry_id' from any media resource on the target Kaltura instance. The main attack vector is network-based, targeting the '/index.php/keditorservices/getAllEntries' endpoint. The module is operational and allows the attacker to execute arbitrary PHP payloads, such as reverse shells or file uploads, on the vulnerable server.
