CVE-2017-16042 is a command injection vulnerability in the Node.js growl module prior to version 1.10.2. The module does not properly sanitize untrusted input before passing it to an operating system command through exec, allowing attacker-controlled data to be interpreted by the shell. Because the vulnerable code path invokes external commands with insufficient input neutralization, crafted input can trigger arbitrary command execution in the security context of the calling Node.js process.
