CVE-2017-20230 affects Perl's Storable module before version 3.05. The vulnerability is a stack overflow in the retrieve_hook function caused by inconsistent handling of a class-name length field: the code stores the length in a signed integer, but subsequent read operations treat that value as unsigned. A crafted Storable data stream can therefore supply a malicious length value that triggers a stack-based overflow during deserialization. The issue is documented as affecting Storable versions prior to 3.05 and was fixed in the 3.05 release.
