PHPMailer before version 5.2.22 contains a vulnerability in the msgHTML method, which processes HTML documents for use as email message bodies. If the method is called with an unfiltered, user-supplied HTML document and no base directory is set, relative image URLs in the HTML are resolved as absolute local file paths from the root directory. These files are then attached to the outgoing email, potentially disclosing arbitrary local files to an attacker.
