A vulnerability in the Comcast firmware for Cisco DPC3939 and Arris TG1682G devices allows remote attackers to easily determine the hidden SSID and passphrase for the Home Security Wi-Fi network. The affected firmware versions are dpc3939-P20-18-v303r20421733-160420a-CMCST and dpc3939-P20-18-v303r20421746-170221a-CMCST for Cisco DPC3939, and eMTA&DOCSIS version 10.0.132.SIP.PC20.CT, software version TG1682_2.2p7s2_PROD_sey for Arris TG1682G.

This repository contains a proof-of-concept exploit for CVE-2017-9476, which affects certain Comcast Xfinity cable modems. The vulnerability allows an attacker to derive the WPA pre-shared key (PSK) for a hidden WiFi access point using only the device's MAC address, due to deterministic credential generation. The repository consists of two files: a README.md with compilation and usage instructions, and the main exploit code (xhscmmac2psk.c) written in C. The exploit is a standalone command-line tool that, when provided with a valid cable modem MAC address, outputs the corresponding WPA PSK. There are no network endpoints or remote attack vectors; the tool is used locally to generate credentials for subsequent unauthorized WiFi access. The code implements the credential generation algorithm and does not perform any detection or scanning. The exploit is a POC and does not include weaponized or automated attack features.
