CVE-2018-0101 is a double-free vulnerability in the SSL VPN (WebVPN) functionality of Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software and affected related Cisco security products. The flaw occurs when the WebVPN feature is enabled and the device processes multiple crafted XML packets sent to a WebVPN-configured interface, resulting in an attempt to free the same region of memory twice. A remote, unauthenticated attacker can trigger the condition over the network. Successful exploitation can cause the affected device to reload or can lead to arbitrary code execution with full control of the system, including Administrator or root-level privileges.

A previously known Cisco ASA vulnerability referenced only to clarify that it was not used in the ArcaneDoor campaign.
A vulnerability affecting all supported versions of Cisco ASA software, mitigable by disabling the WebVPN feature. Cisco determined the original fix was insufficient and released updated patches; researchers also published proof-of-concept code that can cause a denial-of-service condition on ASA devices.
An unauthenticated remote denial-of-service and potential remote code execution vulnerability in Cisco ASA SSL VPN (WebVPN) caused by a double-free condition triggered via crafted XML packets.
