CVE-2018-12465 is an OS command injection vulnerability in the web administration component of Micro Focus Secure Messaging Gateway (SMG) versions prior to 471. Authenticated attackers with privileged access can execute arbitrary operating system commands on the SMG server. The vulnerability can be chained with CVE-2018-12464 (SQL injection) to escalate to unauthenticated remote code execution. The issue does not affect legacy GWAVA 6.5 versions.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module targeting MicroFocus Secure Messaging Gateway on Linux. The exploit leverages two vulnerabilities: a SQL injection in the 'enginelist.php' API endpoint and a command injection in the 'manage_domains_dkim_keygen_request.php' endpoint. The attack chain is as follows: (1) exploit SQL injection to create a new user, (2) authenticate as that user, (3) implant a PHP payload via a crafted DKIM record, and (4) trigger command injection to execute the payload, resulting in remote code execution as the web user. The module is weaponized, using a customizable Meterpreter reverse shell payload by default. The code is well-structured, with clear separation of each attack step, and includes cleanup routines to remove traces after exploitation. All endpoints are accessed over HTTP(S), and the exploit is unauthenticated for the initial step but requires a valid session for command injection, which it achieves automatically.
