CVE-2018-14718 is an unsafe deserialization vulnerability in FasterXML Jackson Databind. Versions before the applicable fixed releases did not block an unsafe slf4j-ext type during polymorphic deserialization. An attacker able to supply malicious serialized input to an application that enables polymorphic type handling can invoke the slf4j-ext gadget chain and achieve arbitrary code execution, subject to the required vulnerable SLF4J component being present.
