CVE-2018-14720 is an unsafe polymorphic-deserialization vulnerability in FasterXML jackson-databind 2.x prior to 2.9.7. The default type-denylist did not block certain JDK classes that could be instantiated through attacker-controlled type metadata. In affected JDK environments, this permits gadget-based external XML entity processing and data exfiltration when untrusted data is deserialized using unsafe polymorphic type handling.
