CVE-2018-15439 is an authentication bypass vulnerability in Cisco Small Business Switches software. According to the provided advisory text, the issue exists because, under specific circumstances, the affected software enables a privileged user account without notifying administrators. A remote, unauthenticated attacker can exploit this condition by logging in with that account and obtaining access to the device management interface. Successful exploitation allows the attacker to execute commands on the affected device with full administrative rights.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (modules/exploits/linux/local/cpi_runrshell_priv_esc.rb) that exploits a local privilege escalation vulnerability (CVE-2018-15439) in Cisco Prime Infrastructure 3.4.0. The exploit abuses the /opt/CSCOlumos/bin/runrshell binary, which is intended to execute shell scripts as root but can be manipulated to execute arbitrary commands as root due to improper argument handling. The module uploads a Metasploit-generated payload (such as a shell or Meterpreter executable) to a writable directory (default: /tmp), sets the executable bit, and then executes it as root via the vulnerable binary. Successful exploitation results in a root shell or Meterpreter session. The module is operational and requires local access to the target system. The only fingerprintable endpoints are the runrshell binary and the writable directory used for payload upload.
