CVE-2018-17246 is an arbitrary file inclusion vulnerability in Kibana’s Console plugin affecting Kibana versions prior to 6.4.3 and 5.6.13. An attacker with access to the Kibana Console API can supply input that causes Kibana to attempt to load and execute attacker-selected local files as JavaScript within the Node.js runtime. In observed exploitation behavior, Kibana attempts to require the targeted file as a module; when the file is not valid JavaScript, the resulting parser error can disclose portions of the file contents through Kibana application logs. This makes the flaw usable for local file disclosure and, under favorable conditions, potentially for arbitrary command execution with the privileges of the Kibana process.

A local file inclusion vulnerability in Kibana's Console plugin that allows arbitrary file reads from the Kibana server, with file contents disclosed indirectly through Node.js SyntaxError messages written to Kibana logs.
A local file inclusion (LFI) vulnerability in Kibana’s Console plugin that can be leveraged to execute JavaScript via the Kibana Console API and potentially achieve arbitrary command execution (RCE) with the permissions of the Kibana process, especially when combined with an arbitrary file upload primitive.
A remote code execution vulnerability in Kibana (Elastic Stack) caused by an arbitrary file inclusion issue in the Kibana Console plugin, allowing an attacker with access to the Kibana Console API to trigger execution of JavaScript and potentially run arbitrary commands as the Kibana process user.
