CVE-2018-19362 is an unsafe polymorphic deserialization vulnerability in FasterXML Jackson Databind. Versions prior to 2.9.8 fail to block a deserialization gadget provided by JBoss Common Core. When an application processes attacker-controlled data using unsafe polymorphic deserialization, Jackson can instantiate the gadget type. Jackson Databind 2.9.8 added the relevant type to its subtype validation blocklist; corresponding maintenance fixes were released for earlier supported version lines.
