CVE-2018-2892 is a local privilege escalation vulnerability in the Availability Suite Service kernel component of Oracle Solaris 10 and 11.3. The flaw is caused by a signedness error in bounds checking when handling the SDBC_TEST_INIT ioctl in the /dev/sdbc device path. A low-privileged local user can trigger the bug to perform an arbitrary kernel-mode memory write, leading to ring0 code execution and full compromise of the affected Solaris host.
