CVE-2018-4901 affects Adobe Acrobat Reader 2018.009.20050 and earlier, 2017.011.30070 and earlier, and 2015.006.30394 and earlier. The issue is caused by a computation error in the document identity representation logic that writes data past the end of the intended buffer, resulting in an out-of-bounds write condition. A specially crafted PDF can trigger memory corruption when processed by the vulnerable application. Adobe indicates that successful exploitation may allow an attacker to corrupt sensitive data or execute arbitrary code.
