CVE-2018-5968 is an unsafe deserialization vulnerability in FasterXML jackson-databind. An incomplete blacklist-based remediation for CVE-2017-7525 and CVE-2017-17485 failed to block two additional deserialization gadget types, including gadgets associated with Hibernate and iBatis. Attacker-controlled input processed by ObjectMapper.readValue can cause instantiation and execution of a malicious gadget chain when polymorphic deserialization is enabled. The flaw affects jackson-databind through 2.8.11 and 2.9.x through 2.9.3.
