CVE-2018-7489 is an unsafe polymorphic deserialization vulnerability in FasterXML jackson-databind and an incomplete fix for CVE-2017-7525. A blacklist intended to prevent dangerous types can be bypassed using a c3p0 deserialization gadget when c3p0 classes are available to the application. Malicious JSON supplied to ObjectMapper.readValue can cause attacker-selected objects to be instantiated. Vulnerable configurations include enableDefaultTyping(), @JsonTypeInfo configured with Id.CLASS or Id.MINIMAL_CLASS, and other paths that allow ObjectMapper to resolve attacker-controlled polymorphic types.
