In Liferay Portal CE 7.1.2 GA3, the Groovy script console available to application administrators allows execution of arbitrary OS commands via Groovy's .execute() method. By submitting a script such as 'def cmd = ...' in the ServerAdminPortlet_script parameter, an authenticated administrator can execute system commands on the underlying server. This functionality is intended for administrative use, but it can be abused if administrator credentials are compromised.
