CVE-2019-11660 is a local privilege escalation vulnerability in Micro Focus Data Protector versions 10.00 through 10.40. The flaw allows a low-privileged local user to execute a custom binary with elevated privileges, potentially leading to full system compromise. The vulnerability is due to improper privilege management within the affected software, enabling unauthorized privilege manipulation.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (Ruby file) that exploits a local privilege escalation vulnerability (CVE-2019-11660) in Micro Focus (HPE) Data Protector for Linux (A.10.40 build 118 and prior). The exploit targets the SUID binary 'omniresolve', which insecurely invokes 'oracleasm' using a trusted $PATH, allowing an attacker to execute a custom binary as root. The module checks for the presence and permissions of the target binary, writes a payload named 'oracleasm' to a writable directory (default: /tmp), and triggers execution via the vulnerable SUID binary. Successful exploitation results in root privileges for the attacker. The module is operational and requires an existing session on the target. No network endpoints are involved; all actions are local to the compromised host.
