CVE-2019-13720 is a high-severity use-after-free vulnerability in Google Chrome's WebAudio component, specifically in the OfflineAudioContext processing path involving ConvolverNode buffer handling. The flaw was caused by a race condition between the renderer thread and the audio thread, allowing an object to be freed and subsequently reused. A remote attacker could trigger heap corruption by luring a victim to a crafted HTML page. Public analysis of in-the-wild exploitation indicates the bug was used to obtain memory disclosure and memory corruption primitives and was chained with a Windows kernel privilege-escalation vulnerability to escape the Chrome sandbox. The issue affected Google Chrome prior to 78.0.3904.87, and observed exploitation targeted Chrome 76 and 77.
