CVE-2019-17508 is a command injection vulnerability affecting D-Link DIR-859 A3 firmware version 1.06 and DIR-850 firmware version 1.13. The issue is present in /etc/services/DEVICE.TIME.php, where the $SERVER variable is not properly sanitized before being used in a context that permits execution of operating system commands. An attacker able to supply a crafted value for this variable can inject arbitrary shell commands, resulting in unintended command execution on the device.

This repository contains a single Metasploit exploit module targeting D-Link DIR-850L routers (and possibly other DIR-8X series) affected by CVE-2019-17508. The exploit leverages an unauthenticated credential disclosure vulnerability to obtain valid device credentials by sending a crafted XML payload to the '/hedwig.cgi' endpoint, requesting the DEVICE.ACCOUNT.xml file. After retrieving the credentials, the module authenticates to the device and exploits a command injection vulnerability in the NTP server configuration, allowing arbitrary OS command execution via the same endpoint. The exploit then triggers configuration activation through the '/pigwidgeon.cgi' endpoint, resulting in the execution of the attacker's payload (by default, a reverse shell for MIPSBE Linux). The module is written in Ruby and is designed for use within the Metasploit Framework. The code is operational and provides a working exploit chain, but payload customization is limited to compatible command stager payloads (Meterpreter is not supported). The main attack vector is network-based, targeting the device's HTTP interface. The module also includes logic for reporting credentials and storing loot. No fake or detection-only code is present.
