A vulnerability in XML Language Server (lsp4xml) before version 0.9.1, as used in Red Hat XML Language Support (vscode-xml) before 0.9.1, allows for XML External Entity (XXE) attacks via crafted XML documents. The issue resides in the LSPXMLParserConfiguration.java file, where external entities are not properly restricted. This can be exploited to perform server-side request forgery (SSRF) and initiate SMB connections, potentially exposing NetNTLM challenge/response hashes for offline password cracking.
