A cross-site scripting vulnerability exists in Moodle in versions 3.6 to 3.6.1, 3.5 to 3.5.3, 3.4 to 3.4.6, 3.1 to 3.1.15, and earlier unsupported versions. The flaw is in the /userpix/ page, which failed to properly escape users' full names before including them as hover text associated with profile images. Because the full name field is user-controlled and rendered without sufficient output encoding, an attacker able to set a crafted full name could cause script to execute in another user's browser when that page is viewed. The page is not linked by default and access is restricted, which reduces exposure but does not eliminate the vulnerability.

This repository provides a proof-of-concept (PoC) exploit for CVE-2019-3810, a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Moodle versions prior to 3.6.2, 3.5.4, 3.4.7, and 3.1.16. The exploit consists of a README.md file with detailed instructions and a JavaScript payload (payload.js). The attack requires a student account on a vulnerable Moodle instance. The attacker uploads the payload to a third-party service and crafts their profile fields to inject a script. When an administrator visits the /userpix/ page, the payload executes in their browser, automatically sending a request to the 'admin/roles/admins.php' endpoint to escalate the attacker's privileges to administrator. The exploit demonstrates a practical privilege escalation from student to admin using a stored XSS vector. The repository is structured simply, with clear separation between documentation and exploit code.
