CVE-2019-5645 is a vulnerability in the Rapid7 Metasploit Framework's HTTP handler. An attacker can send a specially crafted HTTP GET request to the handler, registering an arbitrary regular expression. This malicious regex is then evaluated by the handler, which can be abused to either block new HTTP handler sessions or exhaust server resources, leading to a denial of service condition.

This repository contains a single Metasploit auxiliary module (modules/auxiliary/dos/http/metasploit_httphandler_dos.rb) designed to exploit a Denial of Service (DoS) vulnerability (CVE-2019-5645) in the Metasploit Framework's HTTP(S) handler. The module sends specially crafted HTTP GET requests with malicious URIs to the handler, exploiting the way it evaluates resource handler input as regular expressions. This can trigger different levels of DoS (Gentle, Soft, Hard), making the handler unresponsive or causing it to crash. The module is configurable via the 'DOSTYPE' option and includes logic to test if the service has become unresponsive. The exploit targets Metasploit Framework version 5.0.20 and requires network access to the handler's HTTP(S) interface. The code is written in Ruby and is structured as a standard Metasploit module, leveraging the framework's HttpClient and DoS mixins.
