CVE-2020-1040 is a remote code execution vulnerability in Microsoft Hyper-V RemoteFX vGPU. According to the provided content, the flaw exists because the host server fails to properly validate input originating from an authenticated user on a guest operating system. In a Hyper-V deployment where RemoteFX vGPU is enabled, crafted input from the guest can be processed by the host-side RemoteFX vGPU functionality, leading to code execution on the host. Microsoft identified this issue as one of a set of six Critical RemoteFX vGPU RCE vulnerabilities addressed in July 2020.
